Tummy Tuck in Hyderabad.

A tummy tuck, or abdominoplasty, removes loose skin, repairs separated abdominal muscles, and trims stubborn fat to restore a flat, firm stomach. It is the right answer when diet and exercise have done all they can, but the skin is still loose, the muscles are still separated, or the lower belly still will not lie flat. The most common patients are women after pregnancy and adults after significant weight loss. Performed personally by Dr. Rajesh Vasu at Apollo Hospitals, Financial District.

PROCEDURE TIME

2 to 4 hours

ANAESTHESIA

General anaesthesia

SUTURES REMOVED

3 to 4 weeks off work

RESULTS

Long-lasting with a stable weight

THE PROCEDURE

Three things at once. Not weight loss.

A tummy tuck does three things in one surgery: removes loose abdominal skin, repairs the separated abdominal muscles, and trims away stubborn fat that diet and exercise cannot reach.

That combination is what makes it different from liposuction, which only removes fat. A tummy tuck is for people whose stomach has changed in ways exercise cannot fix, after pregnancy, after major weight loss, or after the natural changes of age. It is not a weight loss procedure. The best results come when your weight is stable and you have done what you can.

STANDARD VS MINI

Standard or Mini? Which One Suits You

Two operations. Two different cases.

Not every patient needs a full tummy tuck. The honest difference between Standard and Mini Abdominoplasty is how much loose skin you have, and whether the abdominal muscles have separated.

BEST FOR

Who is each procedure designed for?

Standard Abdominoplasty

Significant loose skin across the full abdomen, separated muscles, post-pregnancy or post-weight-loss.

Mini Abdominoplasty

Mild lower-belly looseness with no significant muscle separation.

INCISION

The size of the scar depends on the correction needed

Standard Abdominoplasty

Incision across the lower abdomen from hip to hip, positioned within the underwear line.

Mini Abdominoplasty

Smaller incision limited to the lower abdomen.

MUSCLE REPAIR

Addressing abdominal muscle separation

Standard Abdominoplasty

Yes. Separated abdominal muscles are tightened with internal sutures.

Mini Abdominoplasty

Not usually required.

BELLY BUTTON

How the navel is managed

Standard Abdominoplasty

Repositioned and reshaped to maintain a natural appearance.

Mini Abdominoplasty

Usually left unchanged.

RECOVERY

Time away from work and exercise

Standard Abdominoplasty

Approximately 3–4 weeks off work and 6–8 weeks before returning to exercise.

Mini Abdominoplasty

Faster recovery with around 1–2 weeks off work.

RESULT

The final outcome

Standard Abdominoplasty

A comprehensive transformation of the abdomen with correction of loose skin and muscle separation.

Mini Abdominoplasty

Focused refinement of the lower abdomen with a smaller operation and quicker recovery.

HOW IT WORKS

How a Tummy Tuck Is Done

A tummy tuck is more than a skin trim. The steps below describe how a Standard Abdominoplasty is performed. A Mini version follows the same steps but on a smaller scale, without the muscle repair.

STEP 1

Liposuction First

The flanks and upper abdomen are gently liposuctioned to refine the waist and define the upper belly, so the final result looks like a complete transformation rather than just a flat lower stomach.
STEP 2

Skin and Fat Are Lifted

A precise incision is made low across the abdomen, hidden in the underwear line. The skin and underlying fat are carefully lifted away from the abdominal muscles.
STEP 3

Muscles Are Repaired

The separated abdominal muscles (diastasis recti) are tightened with strong internal sutures, restoring the natural midline. If there is a small hernia, it is fixed at the same time.
STEP 4

Skin Is Trimmed and Re-draped

The loose, stretch-marked lower abdominal skin is trimmed away. The remaining skin is pulled down and smoothed flat.
STEP 5

Belly Button Reshaped

The belly button is repositioned to its new, natural location and reshaped to look aesthetic.
STEP 6

Closure

The incision is closed in multiple layers with absorbable sutures, so there is nothing to remove later. The scar sits hidden in the underwear line.

THE HONEST ANSWER

What a Tummy Tuck Fixes That Exercise Cannot

Most people who consider a tummy tuck have already tried hard. The truth is some changes to the abdomen do not respond to diet or exercise, no matter how disciplined you are.

Loose skin does not retract on its own once it has been stretched beyond a certain point, particularly after pregnancy or significant weight loss. You can lose the fat underneath, but the skin stays loose.

Separated abdominal muscles, called diastasis recti, develop in many women during pregnancy and sometimes in men after major weight loss. The two halves of the rectus abdominis muscle pull apart down the midline. Even at a normal weight, the abdomen still looks rounded or full, and core training does not bring the muscles back together. They need surgical repair.

And stretch marks on the lower abdomen, where the skin is removed during the surgery, go with the skin. Stretch marks above the belly button usually stay, but the lower marks disappear with the removed skin.

If you have been doing the work and your stomach still does not look the way it should, this is why. A tummy tuck addresses what training cannot.

Your surgery, step by step.

01

The consultation

Dr. Vasu examines your abdomen, checks the skin, muscles, fat, and any previous scars or hernias, listens to what you want, and recommends Standard or Mini honestly. Blood tests confirm fitness for surgery. You also discuss medications to stop, such as blood thinners, vitamin E, and herbal supplements. Smokers must stop at least 2 weeks before surgery.

02

Anaesthesia

General anaesthesia, given by a qualified anaesthetist in an Apollo theatre. You feel nothing during the procedure and wake up in recovery.

03

The surgery

Liposuction of the flanks and upper abdomen, then the tummy tuck itself, repairing the muscles, trimming the skin, and reshaping the belly button. Done with care and patience for the best result.

04

Hospital stay

Most tummy tucks involve an overnight stay, sometimes two for larger cases. You leave with an abdominal compression garment and a clear written recovery plan.

recovery

What recovery actually looks like

FIRST 48 TO 72 HOURS

Rest, support, walk gently

The most uncomfortable phase. Pain is well controlled with medication. Sleep with the upper body slightly raised. Walk gently inside the home from day one to prevent blood clots. Compression garment stays on.

WEEK 1

Dressings and easing

Dressing changes every few days. Most patients feel a steady improvement day by day. Soreness, bruising, and swelling are still present but manageable. Stay home, rest, hydrate.

WEEK 2 TO 3

Off strong medication

Moving comfortably around the home. Light daily activity returns. Scar care often begins now, with prescribed creams. Sutures are absorbable so no removal is needed.

WEEK 3 TO 4

Back to desk work

Most patients return to desk work between weeks 3 and 4. The compression garment continues. Driving usually resumes around now. Lymphatic massage may be advised to reduce swelling and refine the contour.

6 TO 8 WEEKS

Exercise resumes; final result settles

Cleared for gym, lifting, contact sport, and full activity at 6 to 8 weeks. Swelling continues to settle for several months. The final, flat result is visible at around 3 to 6 months.

WHY DR. VASU

About Dr. Rajesh Vasu

A tummy tuck has more variables than almost any other body procedure. How much skin to remove, how tight to repair the muscles, where to place the scar, how to reshape the belly button. Over-tighten and the patient feels pulled forever. Under-tighten and the result is disappointing. The judgement that produces a natural, balanced result is the work of an experienced plastic surgeon, refined across thousands of cases.

HOSPITAL

Apollo Hospitals, Financial District

Tummy tuck cost in Hyderabad varies because no two cases are the same. The main things that change the price are: whether you need a Standard or Mini Abdominoplasty, whether liposuction is included, and the length of your hospital stay.

Dr. Vasu gives you a full written treatment plan with the cost broken down before anything is scheduled. Surgeon, hospital, anaesthesia, garment, follow-ups, all included. No hidden charges.

FREQUENTLY ASKED

Questions, answered honestly.

How much does tummy tuck surgery cost in Hyderabad?

Cost depends on whether you need a Standard or Mini Abdominoplasty, whether liposuction is included, and the length of your hospital stay. Rather than a misleading single figure, Dr. Vasu provides a full written treatment plan with the total cost broken down before anything is scheduled, with no hidden charges.

Is a tummy tuck major surgery?

Yes. It involves general anaesthesia, an overnight hospital stay, and a recovery measured in weeks rather than days. This is exactly why it should be done by a qualified plastic surgeon in an accredited hospital, not in a clinic. Done properly, it is safe and well established.

How painful is a tummy tuck on a scale of 1 to 10?

Most patients describe the first 48 hours as a 6 or 7 out of 10, easing to a 3 or 4 by the end of the first week. It is mostly tightness and soreness rather than sharp pain, well controlled with prescribed medication. By week two it feels manageable. By week four most daily activity feels normal.

How long do I need to take off work?

Most patients return to desk work in 3 to 4 weeks. For physically demanding work, the gym, and contact sport, wait until 6 to 8 weeks once Dr Vasu has cleared you. Mini abdominoplasty recovery is faster, often 1 to 2 weeks back to desk work.

How long does a tummy tuck last?

The skin and muscle changes made during the surgery are permanent. The fat removed by the included liposuction is also permanent. The result is long lasting, provided you maintain a stable weight and avoid a future pregnancy, which can stretch the repaired abdomen again.

Can I have a tummy tuck before having children?

Medically yes, but most surgeons advise waiting until your family is complete. A future pregnancy will stretch the abdomen again, and the repaired muscles can separate. If pregnancy is still a possibility, the honest conversation with Dr. Vasu is whether to wait or to do a smaller procedure now and revisit later.

Will a tummy tuck remove stretch marks?

Stretch marks on the lower abdomen, where the skin is removed during the surgery, go with the skin. Stretch marks above the belly button usually stay because that skin is not removed, although they may move position as the skin is re-draped.

Will a tummy tuck leave a visible scar?

Yes, there is a scar. It runs low across the abdomen, hidden in the underwear or bikini line, very similar in position to a caesarean section scar. The scar improves substantially over the following 12 to 18 months with proper scar care, including scar creams and sometimes laser treatment.

What is diastasis recti, and will I need muscle repair?

Diastasis recti is the separation of the abdominal muscles down the midline, common after pregnancy and sometimes after major weight loss. It causes a rounded or full appearance even at a normal weight, and core training does not fix it. Dr. Vasu checks for this during your consultation, and repairs it during a Standard Abdominoplasty if present.

What are the negatives of a tummy tuck?

Honest list: it is major surgery with a real recovery period of several weeks. There is a permanent scar, although well hidden. There are real risks, including bleeding, fluid collection (seroma), wound healing problems, and rare risks like blood clots, which are minimised by careful surgical technique and a full hospital setting. And it does not stop weight gain or future pregnancy from changing the result.

Can a tummy tuck be combined with other procedures?

Yes. The most common combination is a tummy tuck with breast surgery, called a mommy makeover. It can also be combined with more extensive liposuction. Dr. Vasu decides what is safe to combine in one session based on overall surgery time and your health.

How do I know if I am ready for a tummy tuck?

Three things should be settled: your family is complete, your weight is stable, and you have done what diet and exercise can realistically do. If those are in place, a consultation with Dr. Vasu is the simplest next step.

A flat stomach. And confidence in your clothes again.

If you have done the work and your stomach still does not look the way it should, a tummy tuck may be the right next step. A 15 to 20-minute consultation with Dr Vasu, in person at Apollo Hospitals or virtual, is the simplest place to start. He will tell you honestly whether Standard or Mini suits you, what the result will realistically look like, and what your recovery would involve. No pressure to proceed. Just honest, expert advice.
