Breast Asymmetry Correction in Hyderabad.

Some degree of difference between the breasts is normal and very common. It only becomes a concern when the difference affects how clothes fit, how you feel undressed, or your confidence day to day. Breast asymmetry correction restores balance between the two sides using the technique best suited to the cause, augmentation, reduction, lift, or fat grafting. Performed personally by Dr. Rajesh Vasu at Apollo Hospitals, Financial District.

What IT IS

What Breast Asymmetry Is, And Why It Happens

A common, natural variation, until it isn't.

Breast asymmetry means a noticeable difference between the two breasts in size, shape, volume, or position on the chest. Perfectly identical breasts do not occur naturally. Small differences are normal and often only noticeable on close measurement, not at a glance. Significant asymmetry is the one that affects clothing fit, comfort, or confidence, and that is what correction surgery addresses.

What causes it

  • Hormonal changes during puberty, pregnancy, or menopause
  • Genetics, asymmetry can run in families
  • Weight fluctuations affecting each breast differently
  • Injury or a previous surgery on one side
  • Changes following pregnancy and breastfeeding

TECHNIQUE SELECTION

How Asymmetry Is Corrected

The right fix depends on the cause.

Dr. Vasu and his team examine both breasts individually, the size and shape difference, skin quality, and what you want to achieve, before recommending an approach. Often a combination of techniques on one or both sides gives the most balanced result.

AUGMENTATION

Augmentation on the smaller side

An implant added to the smaller breast brings the two sides closer in size. Sometimes different implant sizes are used on each side to match the existing breast more closely.
REDUCTION

Reduction on the larger side

Excess tissue is removed from the larger breast to bring it in proportion with the other. This can also help relieve associated back, neck or shoulder discomfort caused by significant asymmetry.
BREAST LIFT

Lift for position and sagging

When one breast sits lower or sags more than the other, a breast lift repositions it on the chest wall to create better symmetry without necessarily changing breast size.
FAT GRAFTING

Fat grafting for subtle volume differences

For smaller volume differences, your own fat can be transferred from another area of the body to add subtle, natural-looking volume and improve overall breast balance.

Most facelift patients are between 40 and 65, though the right time is less about age and more about the changes you see in the mirror. Younger patients with early, mild ageing often do not need surgery yet, and Dr. Vasu will tell you honestly if that is the case.

The best candidates are in good general health, do not/avoid smoke, and have realistic expectations. A facelift turns the clock back. It does not stop it. What it gives you is a natural, refreshed look that ages gracefully from a younger starting point.

HOW IT SHOWS UP

Types Of Asymmetry

Asymmetry is not one thing.

Asymmetry can appear in a few different ways, and the type present guides which technique works best.

  • Size or volume, one breast is visibly larger or fuller than the other
  • Shape, one breast may be rounder, flatter, or more sagging than the other
  • Nipple position, one nipple sits higher, lower, or is a different size
  • Combined, a mix of the above, the most common pattern seen in clinic

SELF ASSESSMENT

Is My Asymmetry Significant Enough To Correct?

There is no single rule, but there are useful signs.

There is no fixed measurement that defines when asymmetry needs correction. It is a personal decision based on how much it affects you. A few signs that are commonly discussed in consultation:

• You consistently need different bra sizes or padding for each side
• Clothes, especially fitted tops, sit visibly unevenly
• The difference affects your confidence undressed or in intimate situations
• One side causes physical discomfort the other does not

If any of this sounds familiar, a consultation is the next step, not a commitment to surgery. Dr. Vasu can advise honestly on whether correction is appropriate for you.

From Consultation To Result

01

The consultation.

Dr. Vasu examines both breasts, discusses what is bothering you, and explains which technique or combination suits your case.

02

Pre operative planning

Measurements, photographs for your file, and routine fitness tests are taken to finalise the surgical plan.

03

The surgery

Performed as a day care procedure under general anaesthesia or a regional nerve block, typically one to three hours depending on the technique used.

04

Immediate post operative

You are monitored briefly after surgery, given a supportive bra, and given clear instructions before heading home the same day.

recovery

Healing, in five stages.

FIRST 24 TO 48 HOURS

Rest and support

Expect swelling, bruising, and a tight, firm feeling around the face and neck. This is normal. A light dressing supports the area and prescribed medication keeps you comfortable. Rest with your head elevated.

WEEK 1

Stitches and first review

Swelling and bruising begin to settle. Dr. Vasu reviews your healing and removes any non-dissolvable sutures around days 7 to 10. You will still look swollen, this is expected.

WEEK 2 TO 3

Back to normal life

Most bruising fades and can be covered with light makeup. Many patients feel comfortable returning to work and social life around the 2 to 3 week mark, depending on the extent of the lift.

WEEK 4 TO 6

Activity resumed

Gentle exercise can usually resume. Avoid heavy lifting and strenuous activity until cleared. The face begins to look and feel like itself, lifted and refreshed.

Full recovery

Final result

Residual swelling fully settles and the scars continue to fade into the hairline and ear creases. The final, natural result is now visible and continues to mature over the following months.

WHY DR. VASU

The difference between rested and operated on.

A facelift is one of the procedures where the choice of surgeon shows most clearly. Pull the skin too tight and the result looks unnatural and tells everyone you have had work done. Lift the deeper tissue with judgement and the result simply looks like a rested, younger version of you. That difference lives entirely in the surgeon’s training, technique, and aesthetic sense.

HOSPITAL

Apollo Hospitals, Financial District

Performed in a fully accredited tertiary care hospital with full anaesthesia support, sterile theatres, and advanced monitoring. The safety infrastructure that surgery of this length and depth calls for.

SURGEON

A plastic surgeon, every time

Performed personally by Dr. Vasu, with plastic surgery technique applied to every lift, deep-layer repositioning, hidden incisions, and the conservative judgement that produces a natural result, refined over 30 years.

COST

What affects the cost of asymmetry correction.

There is no single fixed cost for breast asymmetry correction because the right approach varies so much from person to person. What typically affects the cost:

• Which technique, or combination of techniques, is used
• Whether one side or both sides are treated
• Implant type and size, if augmentation is part of the plan
• Hospital stay and anaesthesia requirements

Dr. Vasu will give you a clear, personalised estimate after your consultation, once your specific case has been assessed.

FREQUENTLY ASKED

Questions, answered honestly.

Is it normal to have some breast asymmetry?

Yes. Perfectly identical breasts are uncommon, and mild differences in size or shape are normal for most women. It only becomes worth addressing if it bothers you or affects how clothes fit.

Can breast asymmetry be fixed without surgery?

Non surgical options like padded or differently sized bra inserts can disguise mild asymmetry, but they do not change the underlying difference. Surgery is the only way to physically correct significant asymmetry.

Does insurance cover breast asymmetry correction in India?

Generally, breast asymmetry correction is considered a cosmetic or elective procedure and is not covered by insurance in India, unless there is a documented medical necessity such as significant back or neck pain linked to the size difference. Dr. Vasu can advise on your specific situation at consultation.

Is the procedure painful, and what does recovery feel like?

The procedure itself is done under anaesthesia, so you will not feel it during surgery. Afterward, mild to moderate soreness and swelling for the first few days is normal and manageable with prescribed medication. Most discomfort settles within one to two weeks.

What counts as significant asymmetry that may need correction?

There is no fixed measurement. It is generally considered significant when it affects bra or clothing fit, causes physical discomfort, or affects your confidence. A consultation can help you understand your specific case.
