Labiaplasty Surgery in Hyderabad

Labiaplasty is a surgical procedure that reshapes or reduces the labia, the inner and outer folds of skin around the vaginal opening. Most women who choose it are not chasing a certain look. They want relief, from chafing during exercise, discomfort in fitted clothing, or irritation that keeps returning. For some, it is also about feeling at ease in their own body again.

It is a deeply personal decision. At Dr. Vasu’s practice, it is treated that way, with complete privacy, an unhurried consultation, and honest guidance on whether surgery is right for you at all.

WHY it changes shape

Why the labia change shape and size

There is nothing abnormal about having larger or asymmetric labia. Labia vary as much as any other feature of the body, and many women are born this way. For others, the change comes later, and it can have real day to day consequences.

GENETICS

Natural Development

For many women, it is simply how their body developed through puberty.
CHILDBIRTH

Changes After Vaginal Delivery

Vaginal deliveries stretch the tissues, and the labia do not always return to their earlier shape.
HORMONAL SHIFTS

Pregnancy, Breastfeeding and Menopause

Pregnancy, breastfeeding and menopause all change tissue volume and elasticity.
WEIGHT CHANGES

Gain or Loss of Weight

Significant gain or loss alters the fullness of the labia majora, the outer lips.
AGEING

Gradual Tissue Changes Over Time

Like skin elsewhere, the tissue gradually loses firmness and can lengthen over time.

When enlarged labia start interfering with life, the problems are practical: chafing during cycling, jogging or workouts, discomfort in jeans and fitted clothing, difficulty keeping the area comfortable and clean, repeated irritation, and self consciousness during intimacy. These are the concerns women actually bring to the consultation room, and they are all valid reasons to ask about labiaplasty.

WHY Surgery

Why women consider labiaplasty

In Dr. Vasu’s experience, women rarely come in asking for a different appearance. They come in tired of managing a daily discomfort they have quietly put up with for years.

The reasons usually fall into three groups:

  • Physical comfort. Relief from chafing, pulling and irritation during exercise, long days, and everyday movement.
  • Comfort in clothing. Wearing swimwear, gym wear and fitted clothes without constant awareness or rearranging.
  • Confidence and intimacy. Feeling at ease in your own body, without the distraction of self-consciousness.

Whatever brings you in, the consultation starts with listening, not with a sales pitch. If surgery is not the right answer for your concern, Dr. Vasu will tell you so plainly.

THE TECHNIQUE

Techniques Dr. Vasu uses

There is no single labiaplasty. The right technique depends on your anatomy and what bothers you. The three main approaches are:

01

Trim technique

The most common approach for the labia minora, the inner lips. The excess edge of tissue is carefully removed and the new edge is closed with fine dissolvable sutures. It suits women whose main concern is length or darkened, thickened edges.

02

Wedge technique

Instead of trimming the edge, a small wedge of tissue shaped like the letter V is removed from the widest part of the labia, and the natural border is preserved. This keeps the original edge, colour and texture, which some women prefer.

03

Labia majora reduction

For the outer lips, fullness is usually the concern rather than length. Depending on your anatomy, this is addressed by removing a small amount of fat through tiny access points, by removing a discreet strip of loose skin, or both.

Which technique suits you is a clinical decision made together at consultation, after examination, and never one size fits all.

recovery

Healing, in five stages.

Day 1 to 3

Swelling and soreness, managed with prescribed medication and cold compresses. Rest at home in loose cotton clothing. Walking is fine from day one.

Day 4 to 10

Discomfort settles steadily. Short walks help. Sitting becomes comfortable, a soft cushion helps in the first days. Most women return to desk work around the end of the first week

Week 2 to 4

Swelling continues to reduce. Normal routine resumes, still no gym, swimming or strenuous activity.

Week 6

Exercise, gymming and sexual activity can usually resume.

Month 6

Tissues fully settle. This is when you see the final shape and result.

Urination can sting for the first few days. Pouring lukewarm water over the area while urinating and gently patting dry afterwards makes it much easier, and it settles quickly.

WHY DR. VASU

Risks and side effects, honestly

Labiaplasty is a safe, commonly performed procedure in experienced hands, but no surgery is free of risk. Possible side effects include swelling, bruising and temporary soreness, which are expected and settle. Uncommon risks include bleeding, infection, delayed wound healing, asymmetry, removal of too much or too little tissue, and temporary changes in sensation.

Dr. Vasu discusses every one of these openly at consultation, along with how each is prevented and managed. Choosing a qualified plastic surgeon who performs delicate tissue work daily is the single biggest step you can take to keep these risks low.

FREQUENTLY ASKED

Questions, answered honestly.

Can you still feel pleasure after labiaplasty?

This is the most common worry, and the answer is reassuring. Labiaplasty works on the outer folds of skin and avoids the nerve rich areas responsible for sensation. Changes in sensation are uncommon and usually temporary. Most women report completely normal sensation once healed, and many say intimacy is more comfortable than before, because the physical irritation is gone.

Is labiaplasty a major surgery?

No, in practical terms. It is a day care procedure, you go home the same day, and recovery is measured in days, not weeks. But it is still real surgery on delicate tissue, which is exactly why it belongs in the hands of a qualified plastic surgeon in a proper hospital setting.

How painful is the recovery?

Most women describe it as soreness and swelling rather than severe pain, and it is well controlled with prescribed medication and cold compresses. The first three to four days are the most uncomfortable, and it improves steadily from there.

When can I sit, walk and go back to work?

You can walk from day one. Sitting becomes comfortable within a few days, and a soft cushion helps early on. Most women are back at desk work in about a week.

Is it difficult to urinate after labiaplasty?

It can sting for the first few days. Pouring lukewarm water over the area while urinating and gently patting dry afterwards makes a real difference. This settles quickly as the tissue heals.

When can I resume exercise and intimacy?

Light walking immediately, normal routine within a couple of weeks, and gym, strenuous exercise and sexual activity at around six weeks, once Dr. Vasu confirms healing at your follow up.

What is the ideal age for labiaplasty?

Can labiaplasty be done without surgery?

No. There is no cream, device or nonsurgical treatment that reliably reduces the size of the labia, whatever the advertisements claim. If a nonsurgical option were genuinely effective, Dr. Vasu would offer it first.

Will there be a visible scar?

Incisions are placed along the natural edges and folds of the tissue and closed with fine dissolvable sutures. Once healed, the lines are very difficult to see, even on close inspection. You will also be guided on simple scar care.

Will labiaplasty make me tighter?

No, and it is important to be honest about this. Labiaplasty reshapes the external folds; it does not tighten the vaginal canal. That is a separate procedure with different considerations, and if it is relevant to your concern, it can be discussed at consultation.
